A comparison of underwater helicopter-escape lights.

چکیده
The effectiveness of two types of steady and flashing lights as escape hatch indicators for submerged helicopters was compared. Measurements were taken in moderately and highly turbid water. Response time was faster to the steady lights, and they were more accurately localized. Pairs of steady lights appeared to have some advantage over single lights, but this was not true for flashing lights. Subjects found it very difficult to discern how many different locations were being illuminated.

Desensitizing a pilot with a phobic response to required helicopter underwater escape training.
INTRODUCTION A systematic desensitization program designed to help aircrew who have a phobic anxiety of the Helicopter Underwater Escape Training (HUET) has been developed. CASE PRESENTATION A student pilot presented with a severe phobic anxiety of the HUET course--a result of a being trapped underwater on a marine survival training course. A treatment team was assembled and concluded his pho...
متن کاملECG and heart rate during helicopter underwater escape training (HUET) of novice trainees
INTRODUCTION In many countries it is a requirement for those working in the military or offshore oil industry to undertake Helicopter Underwater Escape Training (HUET). The staged, incremental training culminates in simulated ditching in which the trainees escape from a submerged, inverted mock up of a helicopter. Usually the water is warm and the duration of breath holding required to make an ...
متن کاملFinite Time Terminal Synergetic Controller for Nonlinear Helicopter Model
In this paper, an almost new control approach called terminal synergetic control which works based on user defined manifold is applied to a nonlinear helicopter model. Stability analysis is convestigated using Lyapunov stability theory. Synergetic controller is applied to this nonlinear fifth-order helicopter model to control height and angle. Simulation results showed that it has faster and sm...
متن کاملAnalysis of Stresses in Helicopter Composite blade in Hovering Maneuver
The main purpose of this article is the structural analysis of a composite blade of a selected helicopter. In this study, the stresses on rotors' blades caused by centrifugal forces, lift, drag and torque are analyzed. The governing equations of the structure behavior and solving processes were carried out by MATLAB software, and simulation is carried out by ABAQUS software, and they are compar...
متن کاملIdentification of an Autonomous Underwater Vehicle Dynamic Using Extended Kalman Filter with ARMA Noise Model
In the procedure of designing an underwater vehicle or robot, its maneuverability and controllability must be simulated and tested, before the product is finalized for manufacturing. Since the hydrodynamic forces and moments highly affect the dynamic and maneuverability of the system, they must be estimated with a reasonable accuracy. In this study, hydrodynamic coefficients of an autonomous un...
